Michael “Mike” Dennis Carter, 75, passed away on February 1, 2023 in his home in Las Vegas, NV. Mike was born on August 14, 1947 in St. George, UT to Ellis Chester Carter and Geraldine Billings. At fifteen, Mike’s family moved to Las Vegas, NV and he graduated from Rancho High School in 1965. He attended college for a short time before enlisting in the United States Army, planning on fighting alongside his friends in Vietnam. He was posted in New Jersey for training, then was transferred to St. George, UT with the National Guard where he became an instructor for heavy artillery for eight years. During his enlistment, he met and later married Cindy Rae Callahan on November 15, 1969 in the St. George, UT Temple. They raised their six children together and had a loving marriage until her passing on December 18, 2003. After Mike was honorably discharged, he worked for Lucky’s Grocery (later Loveland’s Country Fair) as a manager for a few years before joining New York Life Insurance Co. as an agent, and worked hard for close to fifty-three years, and was an active employee up to his passing. He loved meeting people and building lasting friendships with them. He met Marg Thompson, and they were later married on May 19, 2007, and were sealed in the San Diego Temple a year later. Mike loved his family and created many loving memories with them. He loved guns and target shooting, and spent time with his many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, teaching gun safety and many other life lessons.
