Michael Jay Shelley

Michael Jay Shelley, age 53, died at his home in Overton, Nevada. He was born August 3, 1961 in Payson, Utah to Eldon R. and Nancy Jane Leavitt Shelley. On September 4, 1982 he married Judy Lynn Williams in Reno, Nevada. They had two children and were later divorced. November 26, 1994 he married Lois Ann Gaines in Overton, Nevada. They had one child and she preceded him in death on July 26, 2004.

Michael grew up in Moapa Valley. He raised his family in Hurricane, Utah before moving back to Moapa Valley in 2005. He enjoyed working as a sculptor and as a carpenter. He played basketball and loved his Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed hiking and camping and being with family.

Survivors include his children: Alecia Couwalis of St. George, UT; Kristina (Jeremy) Allmon of LaVerkin, UT; Michael Shelley of St. Geroge, UT; Jessica Shelley of Las Vegas, NV; step children: Stephanie Gaines of CO; Jason Gaines of TN; thirteen grandchildren; his mother, Nancy Nuttall of Overton, NV; one sister, Christy Staheli of Enterprise, UT and one brother, Jason Nuttall of CO. He was preceded in death by brothers Nick Nuttall and Larry D. Nuttall Jr. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Overton Chapel. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.
