Merle Albrechtsen

January 8, 1929 — November 15, 2015

Merle Albrechtsen, age 86, passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on November 15, 2015 in Overton, Nevada. She was born January 8. 1929 in McNary, Arizona to John Berry and Gladys Delilah Porterfield Brown. On August 22, 1947 she married Rufus Afton Albrechtsen in the Salt Lake Temple.

Merle grew up in McNary, Salt Lake City, Price, Utah and Farmington, New Mexico as her dad's work with the railroad moved them around. She raised her family in Sandy, Utah, then retired to Overton in 1991. She loved Afton and loved raising their children. She was energetic and loved adventure. Always active in the LDS Church, she served faithfully. She enjoyed dancing with her sweetheart with the "52 Dance Club and riding motorcycles with the Salt Lake Retreads. She loved traveling, especially on the motorcycles to visit the grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters and one son: MaryLee (Ed) Flagler of St. George, UT; Cody (Randi) of McCall, ID; Wendy (Jody) Larsen of Kingman, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister: Lafe Brown of St. George, UT; Mary Albrechtsen of Kaysville, UT; Jim (Sandra) Brown and John (Lorraine) Brown both of Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Afton; one brother, Dee and one sister, Thurza Patterson.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
