Melinda Turner Duncan

Melinda Mae Duncan, 61, passed away, after a long battle with cancer, on June 10, 2019 in Logandale, NV. She was born on November 12, 1957 in Pocatello, ID to Albert LeRoy Christensen and Ila Mae Andreasen. When Melinda was three years old, her family moved from Idaho to Henderson, NV. At that time, they began to raise horses, and for Melinda, it became a passion. In high school, she began to compete in Rodeos and did well in Barrel Racing, Break-away, and Goat-Tying competitions. It was while she was taking care of her horses at the Henderson Corral when she met Donny Collins, and they were later married in January 25, 1974. They were later divorced, and she married Terry Turner on November 19, 1983. They moved their family to Logandale, NV in 1995, and enjoyed seventeen years of marriage until his passing in June 16, 1999. She then married Harry Duncan on February 28, 2004, and was later divorced.

Melinda became certified as a CNA early in her life, and worked until she wanted to be home more to raise her children. Her skills as a CNA were vital when she took over the care of her brother; Randy with Danville Services. She worked with the Support Staff until her own illness made it too difficult. Melinda was a loving mother and grandmother, and treasured her time with her family. She raised her grandson; Devyn, and they grew very close. She loved being outside, gardening and nurturing her flowers. She loved animals, especially the goat that would follow her around her yard. She loved to cook, and would always enjoy pumpkin cookies.

Melinda is survived by her children; Jeanette (Joe) Smith of Overton, NV, Angela Collins of Las Vegas, NV, Ashley (Toby) Rollins of Nyla, NV, and Ryan Turner of Logandale, NV, her grandchildren; Dylan (Aubrey) Smith, Danielle Smith, Devyn Collins, Jacob Rollins, Chasen Smith, Faith Rollins, Kohen Turner, Luke Turner, and Avery Turner, and her siblings; Alan (Marlene) Christensen, Rick Christensen, Kayleen Collins, Mike (Jeanette) Christensen, Randy Christensen, and Marty (Danielle) Christensen. She is preceded in death by her parents; Albert and Ila Christensen.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logandale Stake Center on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation services being held at the Moapa Valley Mortuary on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services at the chapel on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.
