Maxine Beatrice Murphy

Maxine Beatrice Murphy, 88, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Cliff View Assisted Living in St George, UT. She was born in Spokane, WA, on November, 1922 to Lorenzo Earl and Thelma Elizabeth Jackson Smith. On February 14, 1953 she married James Theron Murphy in Seaside, Oregon. They were married for 53 years before her husband passed on.

During WWII Maxine worked as a riveter in several plants. Later, she joined the US Army and was a Technician in Therapy in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After the War, she got an education in bookkeeping, and worked as a bookkeeper for various companies in different states. She retired in the eighties.

She is survived by her daughter Earleen (Nathan) Vest of Mesquite, Nevada; her brother Eugene (Pat) Higgins of Anaconda, MT; sister Jackie Cyr of Santa Clara, CA and Josceylan Blake of Phoenix, AZ. Maxine has 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James T. who passed away in 2006 in Mesquite, NV, and a sister, Helen Felber who passed away in MN.
