Our beloved patriarch, Max Ray Peterson, age 93, died January 7th, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Alamo NV.

He was born December 6, 1925 in Garfield, UT to Niels Burk and Norma Gillette Peterson. He married his sweetheart and love of his life, Donna Marvella Youngdell on September 9, 1946 in West Jordan UT. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January14, 1964. Together they raised 5 beautiful children in the Salt Lake Valley.

Max grew up in Magna, UT with his two brothers (Jay and Jack) and one sister (Jean). He joined the Navy during WWII at age 17, where he served on the USS Philip. His ship survived Hurricanes, Kamikaze attacks, and many battles in the South Pacific. He returned home from the war to marry Donna and start a family. He first worked as a roofer, then for the SLC Gas Company and finally as a talented brick mason. He and Donna retired to Alamo, NV in 1991.

Max loved his family passionately and was dearly loved in return. He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting, camping and out to the Sand Dunes. He had a wonderful and unique sense of humor. His light and laughter was the center of family gatherings. He gave the best hugs and knew how to make everyone feel special. He never shied away from showing his amazing love for his sweet wife.

He is survived by his wife; Donna, three sons; Neils (Loralee) Peterson, David (Kris) Peterson, Robert Peterson, and one daughter;  Sharon Rusnak; 14 grand children; 26 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Don Peterson; three great grandchildren,Travis Slaymaker, Chance Slaymaker and Jocey Booth; two brothers and one sister.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1- 3 p.m. at the Alamo LDS Chapel. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
