Mary Alice Dotson
Mary Alice Dotson, age 75, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born April 18, 1933 to Bryson Wolcott and marilla Crowther Cook. On June 26, 1964 she married Robert W. Dotson in the Logan Utah Temple. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2007.
Mary Alice grew up in Enterprise and Panguitch, Utah. After she married Robert, they lived in Cedar City, Utah as he finished his schooling, they then moved to Oregon where Robert worked as a specialty welder and Mary Alice worked as a nurse in a local hospital. They later moved back to Logandale, Nevada where they owned and operated Moapa Valley Market. Mary continued working as a nurse and was instrumental in starting a clinic in Overton. She was the first dispatcher for the volunteer ambulance service in Moapa Valley.
Mary Alice loved music and she enjoyed volunteering as a foster grandmother at the Bowler Elementary School. She was always active in the LDS church and had a profound gratitude for her Savior.
Survivors include two daughters and one son: Cynthia of Logandale; Kenneth of Canada; Lita (Gayle) Pace of St. George, UT; six grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph W. (Enid) Cook of Farmington, UT and Richard C. (Gail) Cook of American Fork, UT. She was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Bryson and one sister, Katherine Cheney.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
