Mark James Malinauskas

d. July 9, 2023

Las Vegas

Mark J Malinauskas, 68, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his family.  Mark was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John Malinauskas and Alice Koscielniak.  He graduated from Milwaukee Boy's Tech High School.  Mark was a very private and reserved person, fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate.  He was a hard worker, detail oriented, and appreciative of the nature around his home and the scenery of the Nevada landscapes.

As a young man, Mark had dreamt about helping people by becoming a police officer.  He eventually joined the Milwaukee Police Force and later became a deputy sheriff in Reno NV. Much later he joined Bergman Walls & Associates, a Las Vegas architectural firm, where he worked as a draftsman for twenty-six years, only retiring in May of 2023.  Mark loved anything with an engine, often working on cars, and tinkering on and riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He worked hard to transform the desert into his home, including desert landscape plantings, despite the heat and dryness of the climate. Mark had no typical pets, but claimed the local quail as his own, often feeding them along with some of the other local wildlife.  He will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched and forever kept beloved in the hearts of his siblings.

Mark is survived by his life partner, Deb Watkins; his sister, Marcia Malin; his brother, Matthew (Barbara) Malinauskas, his aunt, Patricia Mize, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents John and Alice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their guest book on the Moapa Valley Mortuary website at: www.moapavalleymortuary.com
