Mark was born in Santa Paula, California to Frank and Sue Laidler. He was greeted by his big brother Ted, who was his partner in crime. You could guarantee if you were looking for one, you usually found them together. Him and Ted kept their parents on their toes with all their antics and pranks. He loved being raised close to the ocean & the small town atmosphere of his hometown. Mark had a childhood full of adventure which he loved reminiscing about.
Mark grew up playing baseball and football, and was a great athlete. He also enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing on Strawberry and Panguitch Lake, along with hunting in Salina Utah with his dad, uncle and brother.
Mark finished his Junior year at Santa Paula High and then moved with his parents to Orem, Utah in 1979. Mark began working as a janitor for North American Arms and quickly worked his way up to a skilled machinist. A co-worker invited Mark out one night since he was new to town. It was that night that he met the love of his life, Sherrie Manning. He knew instantly that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Mark and Sherrie wed on July 2, 1982 in Orem, Utah. They then grew their family and had 3 children: Britni, Courtney and Benjamin. Mark and Sherrie both loved raising their children and watching them grow into adults that were just as kooky as they were. Mark was happy to raise his family as Kansas City Chiefs fans and loved watching the games with them. Mark had a lot of wisdom he instilled upon his children, such as how tacos don’t reheat well and how it's best to let the Hamburger Helper settle after it’s done simmering. Mark was a kind soul with a great sense of humor, which he ingrained into his children.
In 2021 Mark lost the love of his life unexpectedly and never was able to recover from that loss. He is now at peace and reunited with his love and no longer fighting his demons. His family gathers peace from thinking of their sweet reunion and the fond memories they have.
Mark is preceded in death by his wife Sherrie Laidler and father Frank Laidler. Mark leaves behind his 3 children Britni Laidler, Courtney (Adam) Harvey, Benjamin (Afton) Laidler, and 4 grandchildren, Zayne, Bowie, Arden and Frank. He also leaves behind his mother Sue Laidler and brother Ted (Sandy) Laidler.
