Marjorie "Bertie" Brown

Marjorie Alberta "Bertie" Brown, age 88, died peacefully July 6, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born August 19, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois to Albert and Anna Irene Thomas Walker. On August 1, 1942 she married William Cordell Brown in Los Angeles, California. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1998. Marjorie grew up in Quincy. She moved with her family to Pasadena, California at age 16. During WWII she worked at the Eljin Watch Company. As a young mother, she lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for a few years before moving back to Southern California. Finally, they moved to Moapa Valley in 1979 to enjoy the fishing on Lake Mead. She loved to spend time with family and friends. Survivors include two sons and two daughters: Karen (Tom) Brady of Moapa, NV; Carla (Dick - deceased) Bennett of Las Vegas, NV; John (Vicki) Brown of Bishop, CA; Tom (Betty)Brown of Las Vegas, NV; eleven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tresa and one brother, Virgil. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 12 Noon at the Moapa Valley Mortuary.
