Marilyn Maudean Whitmore Nay Cattoor, age 81, died Friday, December 14, 2018 in St. George, Utah. She was born March 14, 1937 in Artesia, California to Leland Odell and Maudie Gertrude Seckinger Whitmore. On June 5, 1954 she married Keith Allen Nay in Overton, Nevada. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1997. On January 2, 2003 she married Orville Floyd Cattoor in Mesquite, Nevada.
Marilyn grew up in Overton, Nevada. She was married at a young age. She raised her family between Moapa Valley, Virgin Valley, and the old Nay Ranch up on Bunkerville Mountain. She worked hard alongside her husband, running cattle, nurturing an orchard and scratching out a living. Marilyn understood that family and relationships were important. She loved history and antiques, but understood that the "story" and "person" were the important part.
Survivors include her husband, Orville of Logandale, NV; son, Cal (Denise) Nay of Ephraim, UT; and son-in-law Norm Tom of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; step children: Lois Thomas, Donald Cattoor, Edward Cattoor, and Nancy Cundiff; four brothers and two sisters: Jim Whitmore of Moapa, NV; Lloyd (Linda) of Couer d’Laine, ID; Dennis, John, and Kathy Whitmore all of Overton, NV and Darcie Solberg of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by daughter, Nita Tom; and her brother Daniel Whitmore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Bunkerville LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
