Marden Carling Spencer

July 26, 1929 — March 31, 2010

Marden Carling Spencer, age 80, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at his home in Alamo, Nevada. He was born July 26, 1929 at Lee's Ferry, Arizona to Isaac Carling and Sylvia Allred Spencer. On August 19, 1951 he married Ellen Bronson in San Buenaventura, Mexico. On January 22, 1972 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple.

Marden grew up in Lee's Ferry, Arizona, Glendale, Utah, and Short Creek, Arizona. When he was 14, his family moved to Mexico. In 1972, he moved his family back to the USA, where they lived in Granite, Utah until moving to Alamo, Nevada. He worked in road construction, logging, mining, ranching and gardening. He loved working with horses, cattle and in the garden. He always enjoyed sharing his fruits and vegetables from his garden and orchards. He loved to fish. He always had a special love and respect for the Book of Mormon and the Spanish people.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Alamo, NV; nine sons and eight daughters: Carrol (Robert) Reitano, of Washington, UT; Jane (Richard) Bush of Overton, NV; Marden Jr. "Carl" (Lillie) of Alamo, NV; Mickel (Retta) of LaVerkin, UT; Edith (Jon) Scott of Midvale, UT; Thelma (Kelly) Carn of Las Vegas, NV; Isaac (Judy) of Alamo, NV; Philip (Sherry) of Hiko, NV; Veronaca (Paul) Snyder of Hurricane, UT; June (Lee) Hickenlooper of Wales, UT; Claudia (Ben) Wasden of Amity, OR; Samuel (Necar) of Alamo, NV; Kraig (Heidi) of Las Vegas, NV; Matthew (Emilie)of Las Vegas, NV; Howard (Tanaka) of Apple Valley, UT; Marlene (Tyler) Pincock of Idaho Falls, ID; John (Patricia) of Las Vegas, NV; 80 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; seven brothers and three sisters: Clarence (Joyce) of Glendale, UT; George (Melva) of St. George, UT; Darrel (Renae) of Mona, UT; Lucy LeBaron of Mexico; Lillie Spencer of Mayfield, UT; Harold (Carolyn) of Duchesne, UT; Kenneth (Kathy) of Lehi, UT; Arnold (Peggy) of Las Vegas, NV; Rulon (Wendy) of Scenic, AZ and Emma (Randy) Moore of Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nola; two sisters, Ruthie and Nona and two infant brothers and one granddaughter, Tiffany.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Alamo LDS Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Alamo Chapel. Interment will follow in the Alamo Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
