Loretta Lina Wollenzien

Born April 11th, 1954 and passed away March 11, 2021 in Orem, Utah.

Survived by a loving husband Ivan and 6 Children, Heidi, Merlin, Anna, Robert, Rick and Wesley and 20 grandchildren.

Lory grew up in Las Vegas as the second child in a family of 7 kids who lost their father while young. Lory strove to help her mother as she raised her kids.

Ivan and Lory grew up on the same street Lacy Lane in Las Vegas and were childhood friends. They started spending more time together while attending Hyde Park Middle School and remained friends throughout high school. They reunited while attending BYU in March 1975 after Ivan’s mission to South Korea. Lory was studying Home Economics and graduated Dec 19th 1975. The following day Lory and Ivan were married in the St. George Temple. They were living in the family mobile home park in Orem, Utah while Ivan finished school when they welcomed their first child Heidi. After Ivan graduated in Industrial Education in the spring of 1978, they moved to Logandale, Nevada, where Ivan began his teaching career at Moapa Valley High School.  Lory taught as a substitute teacher simultaneously while raising a family of six children.

Lory and Ivan moved to South Jordan, Utah in summer of 2005 to be close to their first grandkids. Six years later they sold their house in South Jordan in the spring of 2011 and moved to Beaver, Utah to be near their family farm, which was perfectly located between their children split between Utah and Nevada. This home and farm proved to be a great gathering place for their growing family where many reunions and memories continue to take place.

They were impressed to sell their home in Beaver in the Summer of 2020, unaware of Lory’s illness with cancer and moved back into the mobile home park in Orem, UT. This inspired move quickly led to the discovery of Lory’s illness and allowed for more cherished time with family.

Lory was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Primary and Relief Society President amongst many other callings she held.  She served two 18 month church service missions with Ivan, the first at Westridge Academy which began on November 1, 2007 and focused on helping troubled youth. The second mission, which started in May 2016, was at BYU - Hawaii at the Center for Academic Success helping international students succeed in college. Lory was like a second mother to many of those she served during these missions.

Lory loved doing family history and attended the temple often, blessing the lives of family members on both sides of the veil. She supported her children in their genealogy efforts and encouraged them to complete family history work.
