Lois Dubrock, age 94, died Saturday, January 22, 2022 at her son’s home in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born June 7, 1927 in Silas, Alabama to John Robert and Flossie Euphenia McManus Cooper. On April 27, 1946 she married Phillip Earl Rogers in Lucedale, Mississippi. They had one son that they raised in many places throughout the US and Morocco and Japan as Phillip served in the military. They later divorced. On December 3, 1981, she married James John Dubrock in Shalimar, Florida. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2012.
Lois grew up in Choctaw County, Alabama. Following her divorce, she settled in Alabama. After she married Jim, she relocated to Fort Walton Beach, Florida where she enjoyed the sun and fishing. Throughout her life she enjoyed deer hunting and lots of fishing. Health issues finally brought her to be near her son in 2013.
Lois was the matriarch of the family. A great deal of responsibility was placed upon her when she was a young woman. She was always very capable, bright, kind and loving, and personal. She wrote personal notes and letters every day to brighten many of her friends and family. She was extremely giving. Her family was her most treasured asset.
Survivors include her son, Ron Rogers of Mesquite; granddaughter, India K Rogers of Henderson, Nevada; grandson, James Philip Rogers of Crystal River, Florida; and great granddaughter, Jamie Lee Rogers of Martinsburg , West Virginia. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bright Focus Foundation for Macular Degeneration research or The American Heart Association.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 6 - 7 at the Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, NV. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 9:20 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada.
