Lindy Mark Lape

Lindy Mark Lape, 83, died February 7, 2012 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born May 27, 1928 in Vandalia, Illinois to Orville Dennis and Ida Morton Lape. He married Billie Sisson Lape in 1974 in Pasco, Washington, they spent 38 happy years together. Lindy was an athletic man upon graduation from high school he was invited to baseball try outs with the Cincinnati Reds. His father wold not allow him to pursue the baseball career because he could not foresee any future in sports. Lindy served in the U.S. Navy as an Air Traffic Controller and during his off time he became an amateur boxer. He was a person who had to be the best at what ever he was involved in: golf he has a scratch handicap; he was an avid outdoors man and he loved to fish and bird hunt; he raised champion English Pointers. After serving in the Navy, he became a self taught welder. He was a Pipe Fitter, working for Welder for Union Local 598. He later in life worked at the Trout Lodger Hotel and CafAC. in White Pasco, Washington. He sold the business and took a position as the hotel restaurant manager for Ocean Shores Hotel in Ocean Shores, Washington. Due to a serious automobile accident he was unable to return to his management position. He returned to Pasco, Washington and resumed his welding career. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, to only warm destinations. He and Billie traveled across country from Washington to Florida and on to Mexico in their motor home. He had a strong personality, he was never afraid to voice his opinion or stand up for his believes. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He is survived by his wife Billie Lape of Mesquite, NV. He had two children Sharon Trujillo of Tucson, AZ and Mark Lape of Snohomish, WA. He also raised Billie's two sons Lawrence Jewell of Coeur D' alene, ID and James Jewell of Richland, WA. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ellen King, Cocoa Beach, FL and six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and one sister. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 450 Hillside Drive, Mesquite, NV.
