Lillie Henrietta Burt

June 25, 1925 — January 26, 2013

Our beautiful blue-eyed Nana, a sincere, wonderful and loving spirit, quietly left her tired body and completed her life's journey on January 26, 2013 in Mesquite, Nevada.

Lillie came into this world on June 25, 1925 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City to Marco and Selma Grow. Her birth was both a blessing as well as a tragedy. Later in the afternoon of her birth her mother died of toxemia. She was raised by her grandparents in "Swedetown" and had a happy healthy life.

Lillie was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many callings throughout her life. She was ward organist at age 12 and continued for the next 30 years in the 23rd Ward. Lillie was proud to be the grand-daughter of Henry Grow, architect and pioneer builder of the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

She graduated from West High School and married Blaine Parkin right before he left for World War II. Lillie worked as a "Rosie the Riviter" at Hillfield. They were only blessed with one child. They had a happy life together and spent many good times camping and fishing the lakes and rivers of the west.

Blaine died in 1964 and 1973 she was blessed to meet and marry Jerold Burt. They enjoyed traveling and rock hunting in the southwest deserts. They have had 40 wonderful years together.

One of Lillie's greatest life accomplishments was the enormous amount of genealogical research she performed and the legacy she left behind for her family.

She was Comptroller for the Utah State Liquor Commission and retired from the Utah Energy Office. She was well thought of by those she worked with and supervised. She was very competent, capable and always worked with great honesty and integrity.

Lillie was certified HAM radio operator and was a proud member of the Virgin Valley Amateur Radio Club. They had many dear friends and associates here. "This is KC7QGF signing off..."

She loved her family and being with them more than anything in life. She was a joy to be around and her interest and love in each of us brought much happiness to our lives.

The family would like to express appreciation to the Highland Manor for their kind and compassionate care of Lillie during her last days.

Lillie is survived by her husband, Jerold; daughter, Judy Prince (George), grandchildren; Holly Weaver, Blaine (Stacey) Prince; great-grandchildren, Codi (Weaver) Hansen (Jeff), Taylor Weaver, Braydon, Bridger, Jaxson and Logan Prince; great-great grandchildren, Jordan and Jurni Hansen; step-children, Lon, Kevin (Hilda), Peggy (Jon) Sperling, Bradley (Erinn); 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Lillie's Life. We will gather for a final tribute on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 12:00 PM at the LDS Whipple Chapel,100 N. Arrowhead, Mesquite, Nevada.
