Lawrence (Larry) Wrick
Mesquite, Nevada - Lawrence Wrick, Age 67, passed away on March 4, 2013 from complications of congestive heart failure in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 28, 1945 to Marianne Huebner and George G. Wrick. He married Tracey Nevin in Garden Grove, California on July 17, 1982. He was raised in Des Plains, IL. Where he attended St. Mary's Catholic school and served as an alter server. After high school he received a scholarship to attend a tech school in Chicago to study automotive engineering. Larry served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned the rank of E5. Larry raced cars at the Orange County Raceway where he held records until it closed down. For most of Larry's career he worked as a mechanic or a truck driver. He had a natural talent for all things mechanical. In Orange County, Larry became active in the local live steam engine miniature railroad group where he assisted the group in giving train rides. He was also an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, and he took great pleasure in riding his Harley. After he retired he moved with his wife from California to Mesquite, Nevada. He became a member of the Mesquite High Roller Motorcycle Club where, in addition to enjoying regular rides and club meetings, he took part in collecting money for local charities. Larry was happiest spending time with his family or riding his Harley. Larry has been described as an M&M because although he appeared to have a hard candy shell he was really a sweet, soft guy on the inside. He is survived by his wife, Tracey of 30 years, who currently lives in Mesquite, NV; children, Joanne Jones, Stephanie Melvin, Jeff Wrick, and Phil Wrick; grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, and Harley; sister, Sue Hlasny; and brother, Steve Wrick. Funeral services will be held at LaVirgen De Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the services.
