Larry Adams, 88, passed away on August 31, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV. Larry was born on September 14, 1935 in Logandale, NV to Leland Adams and Phoebe Bell Linge. He lived in Moapa Valley for most of his life. He grew up playing every sport available to him, and was an avid reader. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the army. He served honorably for two years following the Korean Conflict. During Basic Training at Fort Carson, Colorado, he was Trainee of the Week and Trainee of the Cycle. He served in the Honor Guard and other assignments. Following the army, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the British Mission. He assisted in the Open House of the Temple, as well as the training of many local members in the temple ordinances.

After returning home, he married Patricia Ann Leavitt on August 24, 1962 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. They raised five children together. They were then able to serve a mission for the LDS church in the Santiago Chile temple. Patricia passed away on August 18, 2002.

He was introduced to Martina Andrade and they were married in the Las Vegas, Nevada LDS temple on August 21, 2004. She had three children and Larry was quick to welcome them as a father. They would then go on to have one more child together.

Larry pursued a career in education. He taught for 44 years in the Clark County School District. Many of those years were at Moapa Valley High School. He taught math, careers, psychology, physical education and many more subjects. He also taught at opportunity schools in Las Vegas to help troubled students. He loved teaching but was especially passionate about coaching. He coached and mentored many young students in nearly every sport, including track and field, cross country, wrestling, football, basketball, and swimming. He took cross country teams to compete in China three times. He pursued a Doctorate Degree in physical education with an emphasis in track and field at Brigham Young University, which he accomplished with the support of his family.

Larry loved his family and loved people. He was a natural recruiter and was able to talk to anyone. He was funny, positive and kind. Fitness was very important to him. He continued to run around sixty miles a week with his friend, Cal Payne, well into old age.

Larry is survived by his wife Martina Adams, his children; Vivie Biddle, Kelly (Mike) Adams, Bryce Adams, Kiley (Cheryl-Lynn) Adams, Diana (Garrett) Empey, Hector (Genesis Serrano) Cervantes, Jorge Cervantes, and Lee Adams; and his grandchildren, Cody (Megan), Logan, Jace, Dillon, Lucas, Andrew, Benjamin, and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Adams; his parents, Leland and Phoebe Adams; his siblings, Louise Doty, Kay Adams, and Eleanor Jensen; and his son, Rick Adams.
