Kurk James Miars, 62, of Mesquite, Nevada died April 26, 2018 at his home. Kurk was born June 30, 1955 to Annabel Emily Miars in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Cloud State University with honors in 1979 and worked as an accountant with Fingerhut in the twin cities. He spent most of his life in Minnesota until he relocated with his family to Mesquite, Nevada in December of 1994. Kurk studied and collected music as a hobby his entire life. He enjoyed singing Karaoke whenever he could. He also followed all types of team sports and was known to stop by the sportsbook at the local casino on occasion. He liked shooting pool and was tough to beat. He is survived by his sister Terry Torbeck and nephew Shawn Martin, both of Castle Rock, Colorado. He was preceded in death by Annabel Emily Miars of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Shirley Elizabeth Miars and James Henry Miars, both of Mesquite, Nevada. He will be missed by his family and friends. “One more, then the sandman” he would often write when closing his letters.
