Kleon Arni "Gabe" Winsor, age 84, went home to his Father in Heaven and to his eternal companion on Monday, January 4, 2010 in St. George, Utah. He was born May 21, 1925 in Logandale, Nevada to Walter Fay and Victora Sigridur Tobiasson Winsor. On August 31, 1955 he married Masako Yamashita in Gallup, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1998.
Gabe grew up in Logandale. He received his Eagle Scout as a young man and entered the US Army Air Corps before his graduation. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII. After the war, he lived for a short time in Southern Utah before moving back to Moapa Valley where he raised his family. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Simplot Silica and later for the Clark County School District. He served a mission with his dear wife to the Muddy River Indian Branch and later as ordinance workers in the Las Vegas Temple. His kindness and storytelling will be missed by all.
Survivors include three daughters: Martha Ann Winsor of Provo, UT; Loreena (Richard) Pedersen of Sunny Valley, OR; Mary (Maylon) McCreless of Lloyd, FL; one step daughter, GeorgiAnne Ozaki of Overton, NV; 18 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: Ivan (Irene) of Las Vegas, NV; Carol (Don) Best; Zenetta (Dee) Hunt and Diana (Don) Morewood all of Ivins, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
