Kent Sailsbery

July 19, 1960 — July 13, 2018

St. George, Utah

Spencer Kent Sailsbery, age 57, died Friday, July 13, 2018 on the Mormon Mesa in Overton, Nevada. He was born July 19, 1960 in Sacramento, California to Everett Franklin Sailsbery and Helen Faye Davis Sailsbery. On September 10, 2008 he married Jennie Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They were later sealed in the Las Vegas, Nevada LDS Temple.

Kent grew up in Kent, Washington. After starting his young family, he attended BYU. He then followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, choosing to become a plumber. He often followed work and business opportunities, moving several times including homes in Colorado, Washington, Alaska, and Arkansas before settling in Lewiston, ID for a number of years. In 2005 he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he met Jennie. He later moved to Logandale, and recently again to St. George, Utah.

Kent was a dreamer. He dreamt of hiking around Mt. Rainier with all of his sons and taking all of his daughters for a tea party in Victoria on Vancouver Island. He dreamt of cabin Christmases, snowed in with all his children and grandchildren together. He dreamt of having his family gathered in from across the country and building a strong family community. He dreamt of building a company so diverse that all of his family would find success therein.

Kent was a builder. He built companies. He built skyscrapers. He built houses. He built homes. He built families. And perhaps most importantly, he built up the people around him – inspiring all to be a little better.

Kent was a philosopher. He spent countless hours in deep, reflective conversation on subjects ranging from science and politics, to health and the future of the human race. Regardless of how they started, his conversations almost always turned to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for that is where is heart was.

Kent was a disciple of Jesus Christ. He often shared his testimony of the Lord’s blessings, usually commenting that "the Lord spoiled him rotten." He never failed to offer gratitude to God, even in the most trying circumstances. He devoted so much of his time to those in need, and credited God with all he had ever enjoyed. He spoke of a oneness in Christ and becoming one as a people to accomplish God’s work. Above all, he wanted to "be about his Father’s business," and that showed in all he did. He will be remembered for his love of life, the Gospel, and his family. He truly did live in "the palm of God’s hand."

When the sun sets on the Mesa

And darkness takes its hold

Be still and know that I am God

Let peace to you unfold

For on the morn the sun shall rise

And in the light you’ll see

A crown upon thy father’s head

While he stands next to me
