Kenneth Richard Olson, age 55, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born October 8, 1958 in Draper, Utah to Richard Kent and Dixie Smith Olson. On January 14, 1977 he married Jill Priscilla Livingston in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had two children and were later divorced. On April 13, 1991 he married Christine Jyl Hodge Ostrup in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ken grew up in Draper, Utah. He raised his family in Salt Lake City, working at Hill Air Force Base as a Sheet Metal Mechanic. In 1995 he was transferred to Nellis AFB and moved to Logandale. In 2008 he was transferred to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, but he kept his residence in Logandale. He retired September 20, 2013. He loved the outdoors, 4-wheeling, prospecting, shooting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Jyl of Logandale; one son, Clint (Samantha) of Logandale, NV; one daughter, Carrie of Salt Lake City, UT; two step sons and one step daughter: Brian Ostrup of Ogden, UT; JoDee (Justin) Freeman of Overton, NV; Christopher (Stephanie) Ostrup of Elko, NV; 10 grandchildren; his parents, Kent and Dixie Olson of Sandy, UT; two brothers and two sisters: Ranae (Reed) Clawson, Terry Olson, Tadd Olson, Rachelle (Stephan) Wells all of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
