Kaye Herron

May 18, 1936 — August 28, 2015

Kaye Anderson Herron, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 28, 2015. She was born on May 18,1936, in Heber City Utah, to Ivan Leroy Anderson and Vera Watkins Murray. She was the fourth of six children. She grew up in Heber City and met her sweetheart, Kenneth Dale Herron, there after his family moved to nearby Charleston. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 13, 1955.

Ken and Kaye's life together took them to many different places. Their early married life was spent in Heber City, UT, where they were blessed with two daughters and one son, but Ken's work also took them to the mountains of Wyoming; Park City, UT; as well as Las Vegas, Indian Springs, and Mount Charleston, NV. They finally gave up their wanderlust and settled in Overton, NV where they have lived for forty-seven years.

Kaye's work life has been as varied as Ken's, and they are both known for their work ethic. Kaye worked as a nursing assistant in the Heber City hospital for several years. After moving to Overton she worked as a teller at Valley Bank in Overton. She became a successful entrepreneur when she opened her own clothing store, The Clothes Tree, which she operated for two years. She spent 14 years as a receptionist at Moapa Valley Telephone Company and retired in 1999. Kaye was a people person and she developed strong friendships with her coworkers wherever she worked. She was blessed with many dear friends.

Kaye had many talents and always improved everything she touched. She was an excellent seamstress, and she used her talent to bless the lives of her family and friends with beautiful clothing, quilts and gifts of all kinds. She had a gift for decorating and took real enjoyment in helping Ken remodel and decorate their home in Overton, as well as three small vacation homes in Pioche, NV, where they spent their summers after retirement and gathered with children and grandchildren to make sweet family memories. Several years ago, she joined the Moapa Valley Art Guild and began painting, which gave her great joy. She loved learning and never stopped.

Kaye was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She had great compassion for those who suffered from addiction, and she and Ken served a two year mission in the Church Addiction Recovery Program. Her favorite calling was that of Ken's devoted home teaching companion. They have shared their testimonies of the gospel freely with many people, both vocally and by example.

Kaye had faith in our Heavenly Father's plan and her greatest joy was her family. She worked hard to make family get-togethers special and she made many cherished memories for her grandchildren.

Kaye is survived by her eternal companion Kenneth of Overton, NV; daughters: Mary Lou (Mike) Whitney and Jane (Randall, dec.) Jones; and son Jason; all of Overton, NV; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister Julia (Wayne) Briggs of Evanston, WY.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery.
