Karen Jean Sears DeJoria, age 63, died Monday, March 16, 2015 in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born August 8, 1951 in Boulder City, Nevada to William Douglas and Ardeen Wood Sears. On November 11, 1982 she married Leonard James DeJoria in Boulder City. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2014.
Karen grew up Yuma, Arizona. After attending college in Flagstaff, AZ, she moved back to Boulder City. She worked for Diamond Construction, Simplot, Silica, Clark County and Boulder City Streets Division as an offsite inspector and Engineering Tech. She was proud of her work and loved Boulder City and her peers. After she retired, she settled into life in Overton, Nevada, where she supported Leonard in his business ventures.
Survivors include her three step sons: Leonard T. (Dana) of Prescott, AZ; James and Albert both of Las Vegas; 3 granddaughters; one sister, Jayme (Tyler) Phillips of Henderson, NV; two nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gaylen.
Graveside services will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery.
