Judith Lowery

Judith Lowery (McKeone), passed away on Saturday, Jan 8, 2011 in Mesquite, NV after a six month battle with lung cancer. She was home at the time with her husband and friends. Judith, (Mickie as she was known), was born on February 25, 1941 in Mariaville, NY to Horace and Doris McKeone.

She married William (Hank) Lowery on March 28, 1981 in Schenectady, NY. She then started traveling as a military wife taking her from Schenectady to Maine, Connecticut, Hawaii, Florida and Washington before settling in Mesquite, NV. She worked at Travelers Insurance Co. for most of her adult life. Her last job, and favorite one, was working at a summer camp in Yellowstone National Park, where she was known as "Grandma" to all the young foreign students.

She had a great outlook on life, was very friendly and outgoing and was that person everyone wanted to know. She touched a lot of people along the way and made long lasting friendships wherever she lived.

She was an active member of the Mesquite Community Center and was known to be a very good Texas Holdem player at the local casinos in Mesquite.

She would like to thank the staffs at Dixie Regional Medical Center, Red Cliffs Regional and Virgin Valley Home Care & Hospice for their wonderful support over the past six months.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years Hank Lowery; her sister Mona Cumo of Altamont, NY; her son Keith Shultis of Long Valley, NJ; and daughter Michele Shaw of Poulsbo, WA. She was also blessed with a daughter-in-law Lisa Shultis; a son-in-law Steve Shaw and six grand children, Zachary, Matthew, Emily, Lauren, Austin and Bryce, who all loved her dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
