Joyce Solomon

December 18, 1935 — January 16, 2014

Joyce Hansen Solomon, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away, January 16, 2014 from sudden heart attack. She was a great lady who lived life to the fullest and whose tender heart reached out to help countless individuals. Joyce was born in St. George, Utah, on Dec. 18, 1935, to Charles Francis Hansen and Clarissa Amy Perkins. She was the youngest of eight children and dearly loved and looked up to her older brothers and sisters. At Dixie College she met her handsome basketball playing eternal sweetheart, Bryant Solomon, and they were married in the St. George Temple on July 29, 1955. They lived in Pima, AZ and Las Vegas, NV, before settling down in Boulder City, NV to raise their three sons and one daughter. After their children were grown, Bryant and Joyce built a home in Overton NV, where they spent many happy years.

Joyce's talents, love and fierce devotion to family, God, and country enriched all those who knew her. She loved the outdoors and had a soft spot for her many animal friends. Her joy for music has left a song in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and numerous musical companions. Her passion for writing has given us a legacy of history, wisdom and poetry. Her dedicated service in a lifetime of callings provided us an example of living faith. From generation to generation, her children shall "arise up and call her blessed."

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and five of her siblings. She is survived by her husband, Bryant; three sons, Starr of Boulder City, NV; Stann (Shirley) of New Harmony, UT; Rohn (Daphne) of Cedar City; daughter, Rachel (Craig) Gallegos of Las Vegas, NV; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers Kent and Robin. She joins one great grandson in the hereafter, where we have no doubt that she will continue to be an inspiration to her family on earth and in heaven.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hinckley Chapel, 1505 Hinckley Ave, Logandale, NV. Visitation will be from 9 - 9:45 a.m. prior at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Ivins City Cemetery, Ivins, Utah.
