Joe Higbee

Joseph Vaughn Higbee, age 87, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the home of his birth in Alamo, Nevada. He was born February 14, 1925 to Ernest Philetus and Mayme Sharp. On December 24, 1943 he married Evelyn Ida Youngdell in Reno, Nevada. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on July 30, 1946. Joe lived most of his life in Alamo, except the time he spent serving his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corps in Europe. After the war, he raised his family on the ranch in Alamo. He supplemented his income by working 27 years for the NDOT. He was always faithful serving in the LDS Church. He will be remembered for his integrity, his work ethic, his love of country and his devotion to his family. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Evelyn; three sons and one daughter: Vaughn (Arda) of Alamo, NV; Vance (Vickie) of Kanarraville, UT; Valerie (Stuart) Twitchell of Erda, UT; Varlin (Susan) of Alamo, NV; 17 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; one brother, Edwin (Sandy) of Alamo and one sister, Myrna (Clayton) Wadsworth of Spark, NV. He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Alamo Chapel. Visitation will be from 9 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Richardville Cemetery in Alamo.
