Jose Perez

Jose Perez, age 91, died May 24, 2013 at his home in Moapa, Nevada, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 8, 1922 in Santa Isabel, Jalisco, Mexico. On November 27, 1942, he married Pascuala Olivarez in San Gaspar, Jalisco, Mexico. She preceded him exactly one year ago from the day of his death, May 24, 2012.

Jose grew up in Santa Isabel. As a young man, he came to California for a few years as a migrant worker. In 1953 he moved to Moapa to work at the Hidden Valley Dairy. He worked there for over 35 years. He was a trusted employee and manager. He was instrumental in bringing a permanent Catholic Church to the Moapa Valley, helping to convert the old church in Overton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, roping and his roosters. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his kindness to those less fortunate than him and as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include four sons and four daughters: Frank (Nohemi) of Las Vegas, NV; Ramon (Lupe) of Avondale, AZ; Magdaleno of Riverside, CA; Jose Jr. (Alma) of Moapa, NV; Dolores (George) Zois of Riverside, CA: Eva (Duane) Sam of Moapa, NV; Mary (Conrad) Dominguez of Moapa, NV; Maria "Cuka" Ochoa of Las Vegas, NV; 26 grandchildren: 32 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor on Thursday, May 30, 2013,at 11 a.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church. A visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.
