John Kelly Walsh
John Kelly Walsh, 80, passed away on January 14, 2011 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St George, UT with his family at his bedside.
John was born in Nampa, ID to Stephen Kelly and Edna Yaryan Walsh on August 23, 1930. He soon moved with his parents to Casper, WY, where he was raised and went to school graduating from Natrona County High School in 1948. Following high school, he went on to attend the University of Wyoming in Laramie. There he met the love of his life, Mary Louise Peters, and they were married on February 27, 1952. His college years were interrupted when he was called to active duty with the Wyoming Air National Guard. After his service to his country, John returned to the University of Wyoming, where he graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering. John then entered the workforce going to work for Continental Oil Company, where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1992.
John loved many things, especially his family and friends. He also loved to garden in his back yard and play many card games. His favorite was bridge in which he was Duplicate Life Master Bridge Player, and an avid on-line bridge player as well.
John was a member of the Casper Petroleum Club and a past Petroleum Club board member. He was also a member of the Casper Shrine Club.
John is survived by his wife Mary Louise (Peters) Walsh, his children Mary Jane (Pat) O'Daniel of Brownfield, TX, Kelly Hugh (Teri) Walsh of Las Vegas, NV, Edna Louise (Richard) Geise of Casper, WY, and Carl Stephen Walsh of Casper, WY; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A 10:30 AM memorial service is planned for Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church at 4600 South Poplar in Casper, WY.
