John Wesley Kendall

John Wesley Kendall, age 72, died Friday, February 22, 2013 in St. George, Utah. He was born June 25, 1940 in Modesto, California to Ernest Herbert and Mildred Teresa Gillespie Kendall. On January 4, 1962 he married Judy Ann Willey in Las Vegas, Nevada. John grew up in Turlock, California. He moved to Long Beach for High School and College. On a trip to Idaho, his car broke down in Glendale, Nevada. He fell in love with the area and stayed, working at Arrowhead Station. Two years later a young lady also had car trouble. As he was helping her, they fell in love and Judy became his wife. He worked as a mechanic in Moapa Valley and in 1980 became the Auto Mechanics Teacher at MVHS. He served as a volunteer Firefighter for over 20 years, and as District Chief for 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring his 1930 Model A antique car and telling stories. Survivors include his wife, Judy of Overton, NV; three sons and four daughters: Chris (JoAnn) Harris of LaPalma, CA; Colleen (John) Leithead of Charleston, WV; Jeff of Las Vegas, NV; Johnnie (Beth) of Keithville, LA; Mary Jane (Mel) Shockley of Hollister, MO; Carolyn (Scott) Laning of Townshend, VT; Jorine (William) Washam of Overton, NV; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and one brother, Randy (Kathy) Madnick of Seal Rock, OR. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel.
