John Fetherston

November 4, 1925 — December 5, 2010

John Henry Fetherston, age 85, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born November 4, 1925 to Nancy and Martin Fetherston in Giles, Nebraska. On March 17, 1951 he married Dorothy Clarice Shurtliff in the St. George LDS Temple. John attended school up to the eight grade in Nebraska. He then attended high school while boarding and ranching with family friends in Burlington, Wyoming. After high school he went into the Army as a paratrooper fighting during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was then accepted into BYU where he earned his degree in Animal Husbandry in 1951. While attending BYU he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He met his sweetheart, Dorothy during his junior year at BYU. After graduation they made their home in Overton, NV., Dorothy's hometown, where for the past 60 years he has been actively involved in church, business and community government. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; six children, Steven (Erin) Fetherston of Damon, TX, Michael (Karla) Fetherston of Overton, NV, Terri Hutchings of Las Vegas, NV, Judy (Brian) Seely of Overton, NV, Kathy (Bruce) Chamberlain of Orem, UT, Lesa (Mike) Alhstrom of Tropic, UT. 29 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Fetherston and his sister, Janice McGinn. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Overton Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary
