John William Bishop

John W. Bishop, age 82, passed away peacefully on 10 December 2013 surrounded by his family at his home in Overton, Nevada. John was born August 29, 1931 in Saddle, Arkansas. Son of Harvey H. and Faye Means Bishop. He married Norma J. Anderson on March 19, 1954 in Ogden, Utah. John was raised in Arkansas and moved with his family to Ogden, Utah in 1944. He joined the Army in 1949, serving for 3 years. John worked for Hill Air Force Base, retiring as a Logistics Management Specialist in 1986. John and Norma moved to Overton, Nevada in 1994. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and an honorable member of American Legion Diamond Jubilee Post 75, Logandale, Nevada. John loved fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends. He was an avid BYU football fan. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He had a special relationship with his brothers, nephews and nieces. John is survived by his wife Norma of Overton, daughter Judy Pullum of Ogden, UT, son Jerry Bishop of Mesquite, NV, grandsons; Jason Pullum (Kat Riggans) of Kent, WA, and Seth Pullum of Monroe, WA, brothers; Robert Bishop of Ogden, UT and Murl (Marion) Bishop of Riverdale, UT, several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers; Charles, Gene, Delmar and Howard Bishop, 2 sisters; Dorothy Kammeyer and Ruby Bishop, and nephew Arnold Ferguson. A special "Thank You" to Virgin Valley Homecare and Hospice. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, NV 89021. Honor guard to be provided by American Legion Post 75.
