Jimmie Arthur Robbins, age 75, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at his home in Overton, Nevada. He was born on March 7, 1938 in Overton, Nevada to Oscar Leonard and Rachel Burgess Robbins. He married Rosalie Rae Bennett on May 13, 1984 in Overton, Nevada, they were sealed in the Las Vegas LDS Temple on May 13, 1999. Jimmie grew up in Moapa Valley where he graduated in 1956. He enjoyed riding horseback all around the valley. When he was 14 years old, he got a job riding race horses for LJ McCormack . He raced in Nevada, Utah and California. In his youth he also had experiences with wild horses and roping a wild pig and wild burros. He enlisted in the US Army in 1959 and served for 21 years. He served tours of duty in France, Germany and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, he worked at Simplot for 23 years. Jimmie and his wife moved to Parowan for a time where he reunited with many old horse racin' friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving as an ordinance worker in the Las Vegas Temple and as the ward Family Historian. He is survived by his wife Rosalie; a daughter, Olympia (Jim) Durbin of Bakersfield, CA; step daughters Devera (Clay) Callens of Las Vegas, Dannise (Jeffrey) Starks of Littlefield, AZ; step son, DaveED (Lissette) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Edie Petty of Panaca, Mary Smith and Rose Falin both of Overton. He was preceded in death by one son, Frank A. Robbins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hinckley Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Moapa Valley Mortuary and then again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery.
