Jim Tanner

March 2, 1961 — July 10, 2015

James LaVar "Jim" Tanner, age 54, died suddenly in an unfortunate motorcycle accident near Pioche, Nevada on July 10, 2015. He was born March 2, 1961 in St. George, Utah to Robert LaVar and Linda Ann Pace Tanner. On November 26, 1980 he married Judith Whitney "Judy" Tanner in Logandale, Nevada.

Jim lived most of his life in Moapa Valley, graduating from Moapa Valley High School. He worked for 35 years at Simplot Silica and also for Moapa Valley Sanitation, owning and operating the company for several years. Jim loved being outdoors and going fast. He enjoyed boating on Lake Mead, hill climbing and sand dunes and later riding motorcycles. He enjoyed weight lifting, softball and baseball with his brothers and time with his wife and daughters. While he was quiet in most settings, he could really come alive and capture an entire room. Someone once said of him that he was very charming!

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Logandale, NV; two daughters: Amy of Washoe Valley, NV; Julie of Echo Bay, NV; one grandson, A. J. Paice; his father, Robert (Betty) Tanner of Overton, NV; mother, Linda Brunner of St. George, UT; two brothers, Bill (Hatty) Tanner of Mesquite, NV and Darin (Keena) Tanner of St. George, UT.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again Thursday morning one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.

A celebration for Jim's Life will continue at the Old Logandale School following the interment. All of Jim's friends are invited to be part of this gathering.
