Jessie Griffin

Jessie Carol Griffin, age 76, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born April 5, 1934 in Tiffin, Ohio to Cornelius and Lunetta Schouten DeJonge. On May 7, 1955 she married James Willard "Jim" Griffin in Tiffin, Ohio.

Jessie grew up in Tiffin. In 1962, they moved their family to Upland, California where they raised their family. After her youngest child was in school, she went to work as a secretary at Chaffey College. In 1991 they moved to Mesquite, Nevada where she worked at the City of Mesquite, being honored as the employee of the year in 1998. After retiring from the city, she worked a the Eureka Casino in the Human Resources office. She enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting. She was an avid football fan and loved the Steelers and Colts.

Survivors include her husband Jim of Mesquite, NV; four sons and two daughters: Amy (Rod) Marshall of Mesquite, NV; Michael (Melodie) of Apple Valley, CA; Matthew (Mindy) of Apple Valley, CA; Edward (Janet) of Laguna Beach, CA; Suzanne of Mesquite, NV; and Adam (Cindi) of Apple Valley, CA; 15 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren; and two sisters Lillian (Bernard) Schmitz of Tiffin, OH and Katherine (John) Ecos of Columbus, OH.

Memorial services will he held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at noon at La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church.
