Jerry Arnold Hannig

Jerry Arnold Hannig, age 79, died Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Logandale, Nevada. He was born March 30, 1937 in St. George, Utah to Arnold Joseph and Myrle Louise Leavitt Hannig. On June 29, 1960 he married Katherine Bowler in the St. George LDS Temple.

Jerry lived in St. George until at the age of ten, his family moved to Overton, Nevada. Moapa Valley would be his home, except a few years in Las Vegas early in his marriage. He was respected and trusted as an operating engineer, working for Nevada Power, Cheyenne Construction, Ron Lewis Construction, Meadow Valley Construction and later for Southern Nevada Paving. He loved working in his shop, rebuilding dune buggies, jeeps, trucks and tractors. He was a faithful member of the church, serving as a Bishop, as the first Singles Branch President in the Valley and later as a temple ordinance worker. He loved young people, putting them at ease with his smile and listening ear. He always looked for the good in others.

Survivors include his sweetheart, Katherine; one daughter, Denise (Todd) Robison of Logandale, NV; two sons: Marty (Shelley) of Springfield, MO; Brad (Rose) of St. George, UT; nine grandchildren; two sisters: ElRae Rasmussen of Las Vegas, NV and Peggy (Charlie) Robison/Ross of Spring City, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
