Jean Reber Kelley, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home in Mesquite, NV. Jean was the oldest daughter born to Louis Rummell and Lorna Leavitt Reber on December 16, 1936 in St. George, UT. She was raised in Littlefield, AZ and attended school in Littlefield, Mesquite, and Bunkerville. Jean had four half-brothers, three brothers, and three sisters. She graduated from Virgin Valley High School in Bunkerville, NV in 1954.
She met Dan Lawrance Kelley and they later married on November 21, 1956 in Mesquite, NV. On March 15, 2008, Jean received her Temple Endowments in the St. George, UT Temple and was sealed to Dan and three of her children.
Since Dan served in the U.S. Air Force, the family moved around the world serving at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV, Washington State, Japan for six years, and Texas. After retiring in 1972, the family moved back to Mesquite, NV.
Jean worked as a cook at Vonda’s Café, Mike Burns Truck Stop and Western Village. She also worked for Beaver Dam Lodge, and she and Dan cleaned Mesquite City Hall. She also worked as a reading aide at the elementary School. Jean’s hobbies were walking, she would walk five miles a day, and cooking which she shared with all her friends and neighbors. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in many organizations. She acted as Compassionate Service Leader for over twenty-six years, she was a dedicated Visiting Teacher and went early each month, and she also worked in the library.
Jean is survived by her sons; Carl (Judy) Kelley of Logan, UT, Leslie Kelly of Mesquite, NV, her daughters; Vanessa (Scott) Moody, of Ivins, UT, Gayla (Darrin) Read of Bailly, CO, adopted granddaughter Alexis Kelley of Mesquite, NV; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband; Dan, her son; Brandon, and a grandson; Daneal; her parents; and her four half brothers, Rumell, Gerald, Max, and Larry; and a baby boy that died at birth.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Littlefield Chapel in Littlefield, AZ at 2:00 p.m. with Visitation services held at 12:30 - 1:30 preceding funeral services. There will also be a visitation service held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Littlefield Chapel. Graveside Services will be at the Littlefield, AZ Cemetery immediately following the conclusion of the Funeral Services.
