Jean Carstensen
July 7, 1923 — June 27, 2015
Jean Lovey Carstensen, age 91, passed away June 27, 2015, at home in Mesquite, Nevada in the presence of her son and daughter. Jean was born July 7, 1923 in Jeanette, PA, to Joseph and Vera Witalis Levendusky.
As a young woman, Jean moved to California and lived at the Hollywood Studio Club where hopeful starlets resided while pursuing their acting careers. Jean was referred to Alan Ladd (a major star at the time) as personal secretary for the Ladd family residence. After working for the Ladds for a couple of years they introduced her to Alan’s personal manager, Vern, which resulted in a beautiful wedding at the Ladd residence.
Vern and Jean had the storybook life raising three children in the San Fernando Valley, California. Later in life Jean took the position of clinic coordinator of the Paris Heart Research Study at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. In this position Jean traveled the world reporting on the results of this first of its kind study.
Jean retired to Nevada to follow her daughter and son-in-law, Michael and be close to her grandson, Patrick. Jean is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Doyle of Mesquite, NV and son, Jim Carstensen (Kathy) of Winter Garden, Florida, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ex-husband, Vern, and daughter, Susan, preceded her death.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 10, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Virgin Valley Mortuary in Mesquite, Nevada. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Committal Service will be in the Mesquite City Cemetery at 11:00 am.
