Jay Littlefield

Merlin Jay Littlefield, age 72, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home in N. Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 22, 1940 in Tropic, Utah to Norman Mazel and Clella Hall Littlefield. On December 30, 1959 he married Charlotte Long in Pioche, Nevada. On March 30, 1965 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. Jay grew up in Utah and Nevada. He raised his family in Utah, Louisiana and N. Las Vegas, Nevada. His occupation was a mechanic and truck driver. He owned and operated a garage for auto repair in Tropic, Utah, later as his health began to fail he continued to drive truck, long-haul. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed collecting books and coins. Always active in the LDS Church, he served in many different callings including as a ward and Stake Missionary and recently as an addiction recovery missionary with his wife. Survivors include his wife Charlotte; two sons and one daughter: Ronald (Natalie) of Las Vegas, NV; Dennis (Erika) of Henderson, NV; Trinette (Joseph) Hirschi of Rockville, UT; his children of the heart: Patricia Long of OK; Erik (Shauna) Thornton of WA and Michael Talbert of N. Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Norman of Henderson, NV; Lanny (Gloria) of Henderson, NV and Judeane (Dan)Carter of Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services will be held at the Civic Center LDS Ward Chapel, 2401 E. Tonopah Ave., N. Las Vegas, NV at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 6 - 8 at the chapel and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. (Utah Time) in the Tropic City Cemetery, Tropic, Utah.
