Jason Charles Martin

February 26, 1960 — August 25, 2024

Ventura, CA

Jason Charles Martin passed away on August 25, 2024 riding a motorcycle while visiting family in Nevada. Jason was a loving father, husband, and grandfather, whose family was his greatest blessing. He was known for his ability to create and maintain long lasting friendships. His kindness was matched by a rare gift—making each person he encountered feel uniquely cherished. His legacy of faith, kindness, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Jason was born on February 26th, 1960 in Roseville, CA. As a young child, he spent a lot of time around race cars and auto garages, which shaped Jay’s love for cars, motorcycles, and anything with wheels or an engine. So much so that at age of 16, he ran his own motorcycle repair shop. Jason’s dream of owning his own business became a reality in 2006 when he and his wife, Karen, opened Auto Medic Inc. in the city of Ventura.

One of Jay’s greatest joys was spending time with his family. Jason and Karen married on March 23, 1996. Together, their family of 6 enjoyed driving their big blue 89’ suburban around for weekend activities, camping, beach days, and countless road trips to Mt. Shasta, CA. His special talent of renting really bad movies, passion for epic music, sense of humor, and amazingly goofy dance moves constantly filled their home with laughter and joy. His love for sweets drove him to bake one-of-a-kind cheesecakes that everyone eagerly anticipated a slice of and those lucky enough to try them knew they were in for a treat.

As an adult, Jason was baptized and developed a deep relationship with Jesus. From that point forward, his faith guided him through every aspect of his life. He found joy in serving others and was a prominent member of Calvary Ventura, where he participated in many ministries. The Men’s Group held a special place in his heart. His life was a testament to his love for God, and he carried his faith with grace and humility.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen Martin, and their daughters Sheree (Frank) Quintal, Alinna (Joe) Granados, Chelsea Shearer, and Jenna (Kyle) Shearer; his grandchildren, Savannah, Parker, Corin, and Aaron; and his siblings, John Martin, Jeanne Mandell, Jenelle Olson, and Joseph Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Sue Martin; and his parents-in-law, Les and Lynn Knipping.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 28th at Coastline Bible Church in Ventura, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ventura Rescue Mission. This organization was close to Jason’s heart and supports a cause he deeply cared about. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
