Jason A. Herron

Jason A Herron, age 64, of Overton, Nevada, passed away at home in Overton, Nevada on Saturday, July 1, 2023.  He was born April 2, 1959 in Heber City, Utah to Kenneth Dale and Kaye Anderson Herron.
Jason developed a passion for learning that began in his childhood. After graduating from Moapa Valley High School, where he won the school’s first state championship wrestling title, he pursued a working knowledge of construction and mechanics and became a skilled welding tradesman, specializing in metal fabrication.  He designed and built equipment for a number of industrial applications and companies.
Jason also had a thirst for adventure.  His travels took him across the United States, to Australia, Venezuela, and to work on the North slope of Alaska for a seismic company.
Jason had an exceptionally compassionate heart.  He often gave his last dollar to someone in need.  He loved animals, and some of his happiest hours were spent on horseback and with his dogs.
In April 2021, he met his sweetheart, Dedra Schwarz Plummer in Overton.  They had been living just a few doors apart for several years but had never met until Dedra delivered a car title to him for a mutual friend.  Jason thanked her with a potted plant and their love story began.  They eloped on December 6, 2021.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Kaye Herron.  He is survived by his wife, Dedra; father, Kenneth Herron and sisters, Mary Lou (Mike) Whitney and Jane Jones.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary.  Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment will be Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 7 a.m. in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Overton, NV.  Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
