James (Jim) Byron Humphrey

James (Jim) Byron Humphrey, age 69, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada, surrounded by Family.  He was born July 1, 1950 in Richfield, Utah to Byron Larsen Humphrey and Estella Delain Sandberg Humphrey.  On Jun 9, 1971 he married Vonda Lee Clement in Sandy, Utah.  On February 10, 1990 they were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple.
Jim grew up in Kearns, Utah.  He lived with his young family in Richfield, and then Ticaboo for a time before settling in Las Vegas where he worked as a superintendent for Las Vegas Paving.  Jim and Vonda moved to Mesquite, Nevada in 2014.
Jim was a Mountain Man, and loved spending time with the Boy Scouts and Young Men.  He loved the outdoors, fishing, jeeping, skiing, camping and flying.  His Life was very fulfilling and full of adventure.  He was diagnosed with ALS in 2004.  This progressive disease slowed his activity, but not his mind.  He was quick with a joke and uplifting to be around.  He was gracious and accepting of the service rendered to him by family, church members and friends. A very heartfelt thank you to all the friends that helped him.  A special thanks to Mesa View Hospice for the exceptional care Jim received.
Survivors include his sweetheart, Vonda of Mesquite; son, Cade (Kristi) of St. George, UT; Rochele (Keegan) Russell of Linnville, LA; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, DeAnn Milius.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7th at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Mesquite Stake Center, 100 N. Arrowhead Lane, Mesquite, NV.  Visitation will be March 6th from 6 - 8 p.m. and again March 7th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.  Interment will follow in the Mesquite Cemetery on Hardy Way.  Friends and Family are invited to sign an online guest book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
