August 28, 1948 — July 30, 2024

Overton

James F. Upton, Jr., 75, passed away on July 30, 2024 in St. George, Utah. Jim was born in New Haven, Connecticut on August 28, 1948 to James Francis Upton, Sr. and Rose Veronica Hurley. Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he made a career, and served for twenty-two years. He lived in Overton, NV for the rest of his life, commonly known as Jim the Plumber. He was a hard and generous worker. He cared for the seniors in the community, often helping with many odd jobs. Jim always wanted to take care of those who could not take care of themselves. He was constantly donating to fundraisers, foundations and organizations to help others. Jim donated to kids, elderly, and animal foundations.

Jim really liked animals, especially his dogs who he’s now reunited with. He also loved music. He went from listening to music on vinyl to cassettes and later to CD’s.  He accumulated quite the collection, one of his treasured possessions. He enjoyed the solace and joy of reading and writing.  Some of his last few words were, “Remember to be kind to everyone….just be kind.”

Jim is survived by his sons, Chris (Juvy Ann) Upton and Sam (Jazmin) Upton; his grandchildren, Daniel, Troy, Sophia, “Adam” Humza, Allyson, and Avery. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd, Logandale, Nevada.
