James Edward Ryan

November 16, 1946 — June 7, 2015

Mesquite, NV - James Edward Ryan, 68 years old, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, peacefully at his home. He was born November 16, 1946, in Portland, Maine. He married Kathy Schell in Denver, Colorado on, August 24, 1968. Jim served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 - 1968. When he returned he married the love of his life. They settled down in Arvada, Co; and raised two children. Jim was known for his outgoing personality, his colorful use of the English language, no nonsense attitude, love for his family, and most of all, for being a survivor. He was a devoted Catholic and believed he survived his battle with cancer because of his faith in God, and his love for his beautiful wife who always stood by his side. During these times he never complained about his suffering, he endured without self pity, or putting himself first, no matter the circumstances. Jim always put his family and friends first. He retired form Sysco Denver in 2000, and moved to Mesquite, NV with his soul mate. He loved Mesquite and it's only fitting he spent his final days in the place he loved. His family would like to thank everyone who touched Jim's life in a special way. Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy Ryan, Mesquite, NV. of 47 years; his daughter, Brenda (Mike) and their two children Kai and Chloe, Denver, Co; his son Brad (Gina) and their daughter Haven, Seattle, WA; his beloved sister Carolyn Morgan (Bill); his beloved sister-in-laws Shirley Burham (Ken), and Barbara Kulp; his sisters Mary and Margaret, his brothers Mike, Joe, Nat; and his mother Charlene. Services will be held at LaVirgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church, 401 Canyon Crest Blvd. Mesquite, NV on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The final resting place will be at Ft. Logan Cemetery in Colorado.
