James Patrick Kelley, age 78, died Monday, February 10, 2013 at his home in Overton, Nevada. He was born September 16, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to George Edward and Margaret Kip Kelley. In 1964 he married Mary Lou Warner Kelley. James grew up and attended grade school in Elkhart, Indiana, Los Alamos, New Mexico and Colon, Michigan. He graduated from high school in Otsego, Michigan. James joined the Army in Detroit, Michigan. He served from 1955 to 1956. He worked for 10 years at Valley Metal in Plainwell, Michigan and 25 years at Kimberly Clark in Fullerton, California. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. He put 10,000 miles on motorcycles, riding throughout California. James then went back to playing old country and bluegrass music on his guitar. He and Mary retired to Overton in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Bill) Harper, Peggy Thompson both of Otsego, MI and one brother, John (Shirley) Kelley of Plainwell, MI and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou on November 30, 2004, son, David, one brother, David and one grandson, Billy. Private family services will be held.
