James Kelly Frasure, 76, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 peacefully at his home in Littlefield, Arizona. He was born July 19, 1944, to Myrtle Vance and Ernest Frasure in Pocatello, Idaho. He was raised in Chubbuck, Idaho and graduated from the School of Hard Knocks where he received his PhD. He married the love of his life, Sondra K. Etheridge, on August 2, 1961 in Burley, Idaho. The two enjoyed raising their four children in Idaho. They later moved to Waldport, Oregon and retired in Scenic, Arizona.
James was a talented craftsman and a Class A Equipment Operating Engineer of 35 years for Local 370 in Idaho. In Oregon, he operated his own business as an independent general contractor. The Honey Do Specialist. James’s hobbies were carpentry, fishing, crabbing, clamming, hunting, taking care of his beautiful home and landscape, and huckleberry picking. His most recent interest included “Making America Great Again” and his bucket list was to vote one last time. He enjoyed smiles and laughter from his infant great grandchildren, Arthur Baker and Madeleine Diebels, where he met them through video chat for the first time.
In his earlier years, James enjoyed traveling the world with Sondra. His favorite places included Hawaii, Bahamas, France, and Italy. The two enjoyed camping and riding their Can-am in their later years with family and friends. James enjoyed spinning cookies and having a good time. He loved caring for his 11 year old poodles, Sandy and Candy, who were by his side since they were 8 weeks old. James taught all of his children to work hard and never do a half-ass job. He was strong, hilarious, stubborn, loyal, and not many knew he was dyslexic. He was proof you can do anything you set your mind to.
James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Sondra K. Frasure, his four children, Robert Kelly (Kelly Lynne) Frasure, Sandee Michelle (Thomas) Betty, Angela (Brian) Grunig, and James (Shannon) Frasure. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren and their children, Monique (Bryan) Diebels, Shantyl (Craig) Baker, Zackary Frasure, Jacob Frasure, Nicholas Grunig, Kayden Grunig, Austin Grunig, Tory Barker, Brianne (CJ) Jolley, Tyler Frasure, and Jordan Frasure; three brothers, Austin "Bud" (Anita); Rick (Karen) and Rocky (Penny). Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charlie and Clarence and sister, Billie Faye Miller.
The family wishes to thank the caretakers of Mesa View Hospice for the loving care and comfort they provided. In remembrance of a husband, father, friend, and loved one, a celebration of life will take place next summer in Idaho.
