James Reid Farrell, 83, passed away on March 8, 2020 in Mesquite, NV. Jim was born on January 18, 1937 in Spring Valley, IL to Joseph Farrell and Helen Reid. Jim married Paula Lucas on February 11, 1978 in Chicago, IL.
Jim attended and graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL. and attended Villanova University and graduated with a law degree. During this time, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served for several years. While he was in the reserves, his unit was called back for the Cuban Missile Crisis and for the Vietnam War for his experience with mortars, but fortunately was not sent to either. He worked for more than thirty years as a lawyer for CNA Assurance as an Account Executive, Special Accounts, and retired at fifty-five, a big goal for him. He lived in Chicago for over fifty years, where he met Paula and they were married shortly after. In October 2006, they moved to Mesquite, NV for the warm weather. Jim and Paula enjoyed their many years together by taking their time away from work and traveling the world. Jim loved to go fishing. He was an avid sports fan, and played football, basketball, and baseball when he was younger. He was known for his intellect and expansive knowledge about all subjects.
Jim is survived by his wife, Paula Farrell and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Edward, Jack, Margaret Mary, Therese, Sister Eileen.
