James Erwin Eyre died of natural causes September 5, 2013 at his home in Beaver Dam, Arizona. Erwin was born in Cumberland, Wyoming on May 29, 1923 to Clem G and Ada Wilde Eyre. He grew up working on his parents' ranch in Lyman, WY and served in the Army during WWII, where he received a Purple Heart. He married his wife, Mary Dewar, in 1948 and was married for 61 years before she preceded him in death.
Erwin tried mining, working for the Union Pacific RR and Mountain Fuel before moving to Green River, WY where he worked for Stauffer Chemical as a power house operator for 25 years. After Erwin retired, Mary and Erwin enjoyed many years spending winters in Arizona and summers in Wyoming.
They are survived by five children: Sheila Eyre, Lanny (Diane), Randy (Lynnda), Kerry, and Sheree (Bill) Edwards. Erwin was also the proud grandfather of six grandsons - Kyle, Kacy, Colby, and Jace Eyre and Ryan and Connor Edwards; one granddaughter - Karly Eyre, and one great-grandson (Kyle and Lauren's Elliott). Erwin is also survived by one brother and two sisters: George Robert Eyre of Lyman, Norma Johnsen of Pleasant Grove, and Sharoll Carroll of Lyman.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lyman Cemetery.
