James John Daly, age 91, died Thursday, April 23, 2020 in St. George, Utah. He was born June 8, 1928 in Ireland to James and Nora Collins Daly. He married Carrol Lytle in Oregon. She preceded him in death in 2005.
James grew up in Ireland. As a very mature 14 year old, he immigrated to America working his way across the country to Oregon. He joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, he raised his family in Oregon where he enjoyed farming and hauling hay. After his divorce, he moved to Mesquite, Nevada where he married Carrol. They lived in Mesquite for the remainder of their lives, enjoying traveling and the warm desert sunshine.
Not much is known about his children and grandchildren as he was very private about his former life. His step grandson, Al (Judy) Fillmore, honored him for the care he gave to Carrol by helping him through the later stages of his life.
His ashes will be interred in the Mesquite City Cemetery next to his beloved wife Carrol. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
