James Patrick Brown, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah. He was born August 11, 1946 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. On January 27, 1967 he married Kathleen Ann Wilson in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At the age of eight, James’ family moved to the United States and he became a nationalized citizen. He served 28 years in the US Navy, with four tours in Vietnam where he was attached to the Marine Corps as a Corpsman. Following his retirement, he continued to be an advocate for Veterans. He was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Veterans Wall to Mesquite, the 1000 Flags over Mesquite and the Veterans Center which helps all Veterans with many needs in the Southern Nevada area. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his sons and grandson.
Survivors include his dear wife, Kathy; two sons: Steven (Holly) of Mesquite, NV; James Brown of Huntington Beach, CA; one grandson, Russell and one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite City Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book
